Healing the Athlete: Intuition Meets Engineering - Mellissa Seaman and Special Guest Amanda Smith
Sept 24, 2024
Amanda Smith is a trained aerospace engineer who’s worked for NASA. She is also a natural deep intuitive. She designed the entire exterior and interior of the crew module of NASA’s Artemis program. In fact, one of her first engineering jobs was designing specialized toilets for submarines, airplanes and prisons. She used both her intuitive communication abilities and her mechanical engineering mind, for example, as she worked directly with the astronauts to develop a toilet that works in space. She’s always bridged her deep intuitive gift with her agile engineering mind to create real-life solutions that work both pragmatically and emotionally for people.
A lifelong athlete, she was also a NCAA division I and division II athlete, which drove her into emotional and physical wellness breakdown. Healing her own depression and mysterious physical ailments led her to opening to her gifts as a medical intuitive. Now, she works with other female athletes who are suffering with mysterious health issues that take them out of their game on all levels. Amanda’s Heal to Grow system includes her renown “Bodyscan” that reveals what’s really wrong in the body, maps the path forward, and lands her back in her best condition, back in her happy life, back in the game. She is the host of Spirit of an Athlete podcast.

Amanda Smith talks about gender stereotypes in women's sports
Mar 27, 2024
Amanda Smith is a former NCAA D1/D2 athlete and former mechanical/aerospace engineer who worked on several NASA projects and is now a medical intuitive. Amanda works with female athletes who have gut pain that is taking them out of their sport. Along with the unpredictable pain, they struggle with depression and their grades are slipping. Amanda can scan their bodies to see what’s wrong, clarify it for them, map the path forward, and land them back in their best condition, back in their happy life, back in the game.
Amanda’s Notes from the Sidelines:
You, the athlete, know what the problem is, but you often don’t know the why. The why is the missing puzzle piece and the gut is the place to look and find the answers to so many health problems.Athletes have to respond quickly in situations when it comes to calming down. They don’t have the luxury of pressing a pause button in the middle of a game, which is why learning mindfulness and breathing techniques is essential. Every athlete will have a difficult conversation with a coach at some point in their career, and ideally you want that to happen before college, so that you have some guidance in that conversation. Amanda is the perfect person to help with that guidance. The balance between masculine and feminine for female athletes is real. The very act of using the body in an athletic way is seen as masculine because of strength, power, speed, and precision, regardless of the grace, poise, and flow of some of the so-called feminine sports. Despite the above point, it’s amazing that we live in a time where a strong woman is considered sexy.

Aug 5, 2016
Are you a mom that doesn’t remember the last time you slept through the night? Do you dream of going on vacation just to catch up on sleep? Are you so tired that you get angry at the silliest of things like your husband not replacing the roll of toilet paper when you’re pregnant and get up to pee every 2 seconds through the night? You threatened to pee on his pillow if he did it again! At work you struggle to keep your face from slamming into the keyboard if you stay sitting for more than 15 minutes.
