Heal Your Hormone Belly
Belly fat, hormones, and health.
I keep seeing posts about the struggle of belly fat from women over 40 that are trying to be healthy. Your workout routines are 3-5+ sessions a week but your belly keeps growing. I created this image to help you better understand belly fat, hormones, and working hard to be healthy.
When you’re asking why the belly bulge isn’t getting any smaller, check in with Tier 1. I call them “The 3 S’s”: Stress, Sugar, and Sex (Pleasure) have to be in check first.
I’m on the same struggle bus as all of you when it comes to my belly getting bigger as perimenopause does its magic to transform me into a Wise Woman!
But I’m checking in with the 3 S’s daily to battle the bulge because I’ve learned these 3 things trump all the other solutions out there (unless you have extenuating circumstances and health issues your doctor is on top of and helping you understand).
So what can you do?
Stress: Monitor your recovery! Know your HRV score and workout according to what it’s telling you and how you feel. I’m a fan of Morpheus because it’s not a subscription. But there’s also Whoop, Aura Ring, Welltory (free), Garmin and the list goes on.
Sugar: Follow a Glucose Balancing Diet! The Glucose Goddess has 4 rules to follow that EVERYONE should be following. It doesn’t matter if you have an iron gut or have never had an issue with glucose-insulin response/diabetes. 1) savory breakfast 2) plant based fiber before other foods 3) apple cider vinegar shot or fermented foods daily 4) move for 10 min within 90 min of finishing a meal.
Sex/Pleasure: Just do it! If you’re single or coupled make sure this is taken care of. It might be that you’re petting a puppy. It might be that you found a new toy. It might be that you hugged another human for more than 10 seconds. Get that oxytocin release!
I hope this helps even one of you turn the corner on “the battle of the bulge” 💜💞
Love,
Amanda
