How to Reset Your Nervous System for $0

What if you could reset your entire nervous system in the same amount of time it takes to drink your morning coffee? No gadgets. No supplements. No elaborate routines you’ll abandon in a week. Just a few simple practices that calm your system, clear your energy, and bring your mind back online—for zero dollars.

These morning resets didn’t come from a billionaire morning routine or a wellness influencer’s shopping list. They came from my life. From burnout. From adrenal dysregulation. From years of waking up already overwhelmed, buzzing with other people’s energy before I even opened my laptop or woke my daughter.

As a mother, athlete, engineer, and medical intuitive, I needed practices that worked fast, could be stacked together, and didn’t require 45 extra minutes I didn’t have. And over years of refinement, these five became the backbone of my nervous system healing.

They’re simple. They’re profound. And they cost nothing.

Let’s dive in.

Reset #1: Observe the Sunrise

The original circadian and energetic reset

Every morning, I either step outside or stand at my window and watch the shift from darkness to dawn. It takes almost no time—and yet it rewires everything.

Scientifically, early morning light triggers your cortisol awakening response, which sets your hormone rhythms, energy levels, and sleep quality for the next 24 hours. Melanopsin receptors in your eyes send signals to your circadian clock, stabilizing your metabolism, mood, and focus.

Energetically, dawn is a portal—a daily rebirth. As the sky shifts, your energy field reorganizes. You move from subconscious to conscious state, and if you allow it, you feel yourself dropping back into your body.

This one practice alone changed my mornings. It reminded my body it was safe. It stabilized my system before the world could destabilize it. And it connected me back to nature’s rhythm instead of the patriarchal linear clock we’re taught to obey.

Our cells remember this ritual. Even if our calendar forgot.

Reset #2: Morning Prayer

Heart coherence + spiritual alignment in under 20 seconds

While watching the sunrise, I speak one simple prayer out loud:

“Thank you for another good day, Sacred Parents.”

This comes from the teachings of Maria Yraceburu. “Sacred Parents” refers to Earth Mother and Sky Father—the forces that hold, guide, and nourish us. Speaking to them isn’t religious. It’s relational. It reconnects you to your place in the larger web of life.

Scientifically, gratitude activates the prefrontal cortex, increases heart rate variability (HRV), and drops you into parasympathetic regulation within seconds. Vocalizing intention stimulates the vagus nerve through the vibration of your vocal cords, which immediately shifts the nervous system toward safety.

Energetically, prayer aligns your field with purpose, guidance, and protection. It reminds your spirit that you’re not alone—and recalibrates you toward your soul’s higher direction.

This is the shortest practice in my routine, yet one of the most potent.

Reset #3: The HRV Check-In

Your inner compass—not your ruler

HRV (heart rate variability) isn’t a diagnosis. It’s a weather report for your inner world.

A quick HRV reading helps me understand my capacity for the day. When my numbers are lower, I slow down, add breathwork, and soften expectations. When they’re higher, I know I have more emotional and physical resilience.

You can measure HRV with free apps like Welltory or with wearables like Oura, Garmin, or Morpheus.

Scientifically, HRV reflects how adaptable your autonomic nervous system is—your ability to shift between stress and rest.

Energetically, it mirrors how much your field can hold on any given day. HRV often tracks with lunar cycles, solar activity, and collective emotional waves.

It’s not about performing for a number. It’s about listening to your body with more accuracy and compassion.

Reset #4: Breathwork

Your fastest way back into your body

Breath is the only part of the autonomic nervous system you can consciously control—which also makes it your most powerful internal reset.

I alternate between two morning practices:

  • Oxygen Advantage techniques to improve CO₂ tolerance and nervous system stability

  • The Three-Breath Reset, a practice I learned from Mellissa Seaman, which moves energy through the physical and auric layers of the body

Nasal breathing increases nitric oxide, relaxes blood vessels, and lowers reactivity. Longer exhales activate the parasympathetic system. Breath also affects the diaphragm, where the vagus nerve runs and influences digestion, mood, and safety cues.

Energetically, breath is your life force—qi, prana, spiritus. It pulls your soul back into your body each morning and clears emotional residue from the day before.

It’s the quickest way to come home to yourself.

Reset #5: The Body Scrub

Lymphatic activation + energetic clearing

The final step is physical: a full-body scrub done with clothes on, similar to dry brushing but gentler and done without tools.

Beginning at the feet and moving upward, you touch every part of your body. This stimulates lymphatic flow, wakes up the peripheral nervous system, increases vagal tone, and grounds your awareness in your physical form.

Energetically, it clears stagnant or sticky energy from the skin—the outermost boundary of your field. After dreaming, when the subconscious processes emotions (often not your own), this helps you come back to yourself fully.

It’s grounding, activating, clarifying—and it changes how your body feels in space.

Building Your Own Routine

If creating your own morning ritual feels overwhelming, start with these essentials:

  • Sunrise or natural morning light

  • A simple gratitude prayer or affirmation

  • Breath

  • One sensory grounding practice

Your routine doesn’t need to look like mine. It just needs to regulate your system and reconnect you to your body.

Try even one tomorrow, and watch what shifts.

And if you want deeper, personalized decoding for your sensitive system, you can always book a Body Scan. This work is meant to empower you—not overwhelm you.

Here’s to a steadier, clearer, more grounded you.
Because your body isn’t a problem to fix—it’s a language to learn.

About Amanda

Former engineer on several NASA projects turned medical intuitive. I work with female college athletes with gut pain that is taking her out of her sport. Along with the unpredictable pain, she’s struggling with depression and her grades are starting to slip. I can scan her body to see what’s wrong, clarify it for her, map the path forward, and land her back in her best condition, back in her happy life, back in the game.
